Genealogy Gems TV : Recommended Movies
The talented yet sheltered writer / artist is portrayed by Renee Zellweger with great enthusiasm, and
she is courted by her publisher, played by Ewan McGregor who I enjoyed
very much in “Emma” several years back.
In fact, it was about half way through the movie that I finally
realized that the wonderful soundtrack music was created by the same
composer, Rachel Portman, who set Emma to music.
The fanciful sets and story are handled imaginatively by the man
who directed “Babe”, Chris Noonan. With
so much going for it, I was sure it would be wonderful.
But it was Vienna’s seal of approval that convinced me I would
love it. The girl can find
gems of movies out of a fairly bleak landscape, and this gem sparkles!
Miss Potter
On Valentine’s Day this year my daughter Vienna called a
“girl’s day” and presented her sisters and I with the gift of the DVD
“Miss Potter.” And what a
gift this movie was!
“Miss Potter” is based on the life of Beatrix Potter, author
of the beloved children’s classic “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” and many
other beloved children’s books.
While the movie takes side roads in the telling of her life
story, the end results are joyful, entertaining, and end up in the same
place as the real story.
